Quake 3 on a console. Why not? -- }h3r!k0

Consoles are ugly and they generally suck, I had one, then I got a PC, I sold one. Let me give you three reasons why not to play Quake 3 on a console, or any other game for that matter.

1.) Resolution - 512x384 on a TV, 1024x768 on a PC monitor.

2.) Controls - You need a mouse for Quake, unless you are shite and even so 'wasd' or cursors is more natural than a D-pad or a joystick.

3.) Editing - How many maps does q3 come with? How many more can be downloaded via the Internet? Mods are great too and new bots. Console q3 would be uneditable.

In defence of one console you can get keyboards and mice for the Dreamcast and it has a net connection, but still I don't think downloading maps will be an option there.

Arguements for games consoles.

They are faster for games than a PC.

Who ever it was who first said this should be shot, perhaps in the 80's when Mario loaded 3 nanoseconds faster on an NES than it did on a C64. Now loading screens have switched over to the console, consoles are slower for games and new ones jerk like PC's used to.

Consoles are cheaper.

PC's do more stuff, and if you build your own a mid range PC will only set you back £300 or so, not much more than a midrange £150 console considering how much you useful it is.

Consoles don't go out of date like PC's.

So why do they bring out new ones? Do you still enjoy NES games or would rather play N64? Besides that PC's can be upgraded, consoles can't. (Save game cards are not upgrades)

The graphics are superior.

Okay, look up at the top, reason number 1. I rest my case. Anyway if you have a GEForce then it looks so much better on a PC that you'll never want to touch crappy graphics again.

A computer is to a console what a human being is to a severed head.

You can't do as much with the head unless you have the body.
